What is the Difference between Boston sushi roll and

California roll?

Boston sushi roll is a kind of sushi roll contains enclosing components. Seaweed

sheet is the rolling part in the recipe. In which the boiled rice is outside and

simmered Shrimp inside the roll. Boston roll is much identical to California roll.

Except for the main ingredient, which is copy crab in California roll while shrimp

in Boston roll. In the end, Boston sushi roll is decorated with sharp orange

coloured masago on the top. Masago is a kind of Japanese fish.

 


But What is the Recipe?

For a typical Boston roll, you’ll need:

• nori seaweed sheet

• shrimp boiled

• sushi rice boiled and rinsed

• cucumber

• avocado

• masago

• bamboo mat

 

Boil Sushi Rice

First of all, take a pot of boiling water. Water should be less than usual to give the

rice a soft texture. Transfer the rice in it. When rice becomes softer, take it out.

Transfer the rice to another container and mix vinegar in it. You can also add salt

and wine in the vinegar to give it a sourer taste. Mix. Choose high-quality sushi

rice so that the rice is softer even after rolling.

Boil Shrimp

Take water in a pot. When the water starts boiling, add a teaspoon of salt. Add

shrimp during boiling of water. Cover the pot with a lid and turn off the stove. Let

the shrimps cook within 3-5 minutes.

Then remove the shrimp from boiled water and put it in ice water. Let the shrimp

rest in it. Then peel off the skin and cut the tails. The shrimp is now ready to roll

inside the sushi.

Prepare the Roll Fillings

Take cucumber. Remove seeds. Cut it into julienne pieces. Half of the cucumber

will be enough. Now take avocado. Take the seeds out. Chop the avocado into

slices. 2 to 3 slices will be enough. Do not overload the sushi filling otherwise, it

will not close. Now, take out shrimp as well for assembling.

The Assembling and Rolling Step

First of all, take out the bamboo mat. Then put the seaweed layer on the mat. You

have to pick half of that sheet. On the rough side, spread even amount of sushi

rice. The rice will be outside while the fillings inside the roll.

Now flip the sheet over. First, align cucumber. Then avocado slices. After, set

shrimp above them.

Finally, it is all set to wrap. Put forefingers on the components and thumb on the

mat. Wrap the mat until the whole seaweed is rolled. It is a slow and gradual

process.

For garnishing, sprinkle masago above the roll. Cut the roll into one half then cut

the same half into another half and so on. Until, small sections remain.
