Nowadays nobody is unaware of this word. An eerie organism that has taken the world by storm. How peculiar and unbelievable is that nobody has seen this petite monster but still it has changed the façade of the world. Mother earth is not the same as before. People are not the same people. The course of the world has been entirely transformed. 

 

 

There are a lot of myths, surfaced on the internet after the coronavirus prevailed all over the globe. It was suggested that Virus may evade as the summers will approach and after the temperature will exceed but the myth debunked as novel coronavirus hit the countries of tropical regions like Brazil. Cases in Australia Singapore etc. proved that like the common cold, the coronavirus might not reduce infecting people due to warm weather.

 

Also, exposing yourself to high temperatures won’t help you against coronavirus as this rumor also prevailed in the previous days. Taking hot shower baths, taking sunbaths, all these are useless precautionary the measure that sprung up and disseminated by unacknowledged people.

World Health Organization has discarded all these myths regarding the cessation of coronavirus spread due to hot temperatures. The spread in countries like Brazil and Singapore is visible proof that increased temperature won’t be aiding in the decrease of Coronavirus spread. Humidity, UV rays, and hot temperature all these factors are impractical for the decrease in the spread of the pandemic.

 

 

  

Role of BCG & OPV in mass immunization against COVID-19

BCG and OPV can be helpful regarding the mitigation of Pandemic Covid-19

To date, no vaccine could be improvised for the treatment of pandemic COVID-19. China has claimed about being successful in the preparation of vaccine but that is still in the trial process. President Trump also has announced many times about the expected date for the vaccine for COVID-19. However, to our dismay, there is no vaccine available to treat COVID-19 specifically.

 

But BCG (bacille Calmette-Guerin) and OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine) are a hope against COVID-19. But the query arises that how they can be effective when they are not COVID-19 oriented vaccines. The answer lies in the fact that besides targeting the specific virus these vaccines trigger the non-targeted second line of defense in the human body. The body becomes immune to many other diseases. 

 

In 1970, during a seasonal flu outbreak, clinical trials were conducted, in which people were vaccinated with OPV. After the vaccinations, consequences were checked which divulged that people with OPV were more immune to the influenza virus than the people without it. 

 

For the cause of mass immunization, people are treated with OPV and BCG to test the results.

 If the results are positive, then doctors can use this non-specified defense line for the prevention of COVID-19. 

 

Why Men are more likely to be affected by COVID-19 than women?

 

Of all the confirmed cases, it is clear that males fall prey to Covid-19 more easily as compared to females. The death toll of males is almost double as compared to the woman as reflected in China and Italy. Yankees are showing no marked difference in the fact that males are more vulnerable to Covid-19 than females. 61% of all the confirmed cases belong to this more susceptible group of humans.  

 

Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a study and found that the mortality rate for men was 2.8% while for women it was 1.7%. 

You might be thinking that the coronavirus is a feminist, lol. Or it may be a conspiracy of feminists against men to stoop them down and humiliate them. Actually, the reason why males become more victimized to this deadly disease than women is hidden in their genetic makeup. Out of 46 chromosomes, the Y chromosome is the smallest one and technically bears no genes except genes. Elseways, women have a pair of XX chromosomes. 

 

 

Males have an SRY gene that triggers the male hormones to be released for the onset of male characteristics. Another factor is the male sex hormone, Testosterone, for men to be more like affected by COVID-19. 

 

Due to Testosterone, males get diseased more easily. Also, low levels of estrogen are a detriment in men due to which they get more heart diseases.  

 

Testosterone is also notorious for the weird the behavior of men and their inclination towards smoking and drinking and hesitation towards medical advice as well. 

 

Nitrogen Dioxide, a debatable factor

 

A study conducted by an Italian institute of health Istituto Superiore di Sanità said that the NO2 was one of the reasons behind the high mortality rate due to COVID-19. What is the relation between the two? Long term exposure to this pollutant severely damages the respiratory system due to which a person is more likely to get COVID-19. In the study, out of 4443, 3487 cases belonged to five regions of Italy and Central Spain where the concentration of NO2 was very high. 

 

However, this too is debatable, because the NO2 concentration is high in Italy or Spain but not in New York, then why the number of cases is augmenting day by day. 

Corona Virus is a dead-end topic that emerged wrapped by so many myths and fables about it. Yet no one is aware of it and nobody can’t even claim to do so.
